HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
These are two commissioned pet portraits I have just finished for Christmas presents.
One is Cody and the other is Little Dude. I hope the recipients are happy with their gift!
I am presently working on a house painting commission for a home that Travis sold. It's a little tedious. I think I prefer animals!

Honey Crisp Time
I love this time of year! The weather is cooling off....at least at night and honey crisp apples are in the grocery stores! They are so good!!
Yesterday I decided to set up a still life in my kitchen and painted all day! I would love any of my artist friends (or others) who see this to critique it...good and bad. I know the picture is hard to see compared to the real painting, but maybe you can see things that I can't. I know I need to crop it....just not sure where yet.
There are lots of art activities and shows coming up, so I want some good paintings!
Thanks for sharing!

Pastel Art Show
This weekend was the pastel art show at Coppini Academy. It was so much fun and very successful. I sold my "Tiger Eyes" and "Red Delicious".
Thank you to all that showed up....friends and family!
My "Eye of the Sunset" seemed to be a big success, even though I wasn't crazy about it. I am including it in this group of pictures.

Enice Hundley Workshop and Upcoming Show
We had a great time at the workshop this Saturday at Coppini Academy! It was a one day workshop with an overload of information. We worked on portraits, still life and a photo. I decided to stick with the still life and try to get something finished. I'm still not completely finished with this one because I'm waiting to get the photograph of the apple basket taken at the workshop. (I forgot my camera, like a dummy!) But I am happy with the vibrant reds in this painting.
Hopefully I will have it framed and at the Student Art Show Sept. 5-7 at Coppini. I will be sending out invitations and hope you can come. Friday night is great because it's the reception with music, wine, and food! So please put in on your calendar! Hope to see you there!

Tiger Painting
I painted this from a picture on a card my husband gave me. He thought it would be a good one to paint, since he knows I like animal faces. I plan to put a black mat around it and then frame it. It might even be good for the Trinity Art Show in October since the tiger is their mascot!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Morning Walk on the Beach
Long time, no post! I've been busy traveling, visiting family, and doing other things! Currently I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and trying beach, water, and sunset scenes.
This painting of two eqrets was from a picture I took at North Captiva Island in April. I loved all the birds and wildlife! I'm working on a sunset but will post that soon.

Leopard Father's Day Present
I'm about finished with this Father's Day present...still trying to decide on the background. I added some yellow to the blue-gray but not sure if I like it. Any suggestions?
This is for my audiologist friend's husband who likes to hunt.
Hope eveyone is enjoying their Memorial Day Weekend! Thank God for our military men and women!

The Girls
My tennis friend, Sue, wanted me to paint her girls for their new house they are building. She says it looks exactly like the pictures, so I'm glad she likes it.
I'm working on a couple other Father's Day presents that I will get up in the next couple days.
Hope everyone is enjoying this hot Memorial Day Weekend and not having to drive too far!!

Travis and Stephanie's House
Since I'm working on houses/landscapes for a change, I painted Travis and Stephanie's house. It has so much charm with the cedar post fence and tool shed Travis built, the bench in front, sun, and all the cute little female touches from Stephanie. It was fun to paint! I'm going for more of an impressionistic look but probably got a little too detailed. It was hard not to with all the little extras.

My First Zebra
Today I joined the Texas Pastel Society and painted down at the Japanese Gardens. It was a beautiful day! I chose to paint a bridge and water scene. Notice I don't have it up?
Well...it was lots of fun and lunch was good anyway!
KLRN even filmed us for the upcoming KLRN Auction. I am going to use my Riley boxer picture as an example of a pet portrait that I will donate.
When I came home I still had the desire to paint so I decided to paint this zebra picture. The picture was taken at a wildlife farm and I have had the itch to paint it. It's 20 by 16, so it's one of my largest yet. I actually treated the board with an acrylic ground for pastels and it gave it a nice texture for the fur. I am happy with it.

Bruce and Robyn
I've been working on this birthday present for the past week. My son advertised me on Craigslist (wasn't that sweet?) without my knowing! So I got a commission for a portrait for a birthday present. I had to work fast since I only had a week or so. The man who commissioned it seems to be very happy with it, which makes me very happy!
Robyn, the cat, has her tongue out, which he liked because it "showed attitude".

Painting at La Villita
Yesterday I spent the day painting at Susan's Gallery. It was such a learning experience, again.
I had started a painting of the house on Sweetbrush, and finally grew tired of it and stopped. I think I'm finished . I am posting a picture of the house and of the painting. I'm after a more impressionistic look.
Then I started a portrait of my niece's cute son, Drew. I love the picture! The football is almost bigger than he is! With a lot of help from Susan, I got it done. But..it was a struggle. It's so neat to paint something that looks like the person, but it is such a challenge! I definitely have lots to learn! Again, I am posting the picture and the painting.
It was such a fun day. I can spend hours doing this! It seems like I do since I'm not getting anything else done!

Another Patriotic Eagle
I've been busy painting...recently I did this eagle. Tomorrow I am going to La Villita to paint again with Susan. Can't wait! I really get so much out of that and may have to increase my sessions!
I have a new commission with two pugs in the painting. I will be posting that soon.
It's Spring Break! Have a wonderful week!

God Bless America & Happy Birthday Tom
My First Portrait Lesson
This is Stephanie, my beautiful daughter in law, in Hawaii during her wedding ceremony.
I had a wonderful learning experience with my new pastel portrait artist, Susan Carlin, at her new gallery/studio in La Villita. With her looking over my shoulder and giving guidance, I am happy with the way this turned out. Stephanie is really prettier than this, but I'm afraid to mess with it too much! I feel much more confident with pets, animals, and fur instead of skin tones. But I'm working on it!
This is very exciting learning new things and gaining confidence!
